The Motofix Group hosts successful apprenticeship event in Yeovil
The Motofix Group, one of the leading UK independent vehicle accident repair and bodyshop groups, hosted an industry showcase event on 23rd February 2017 at its Yeovil branch in association with AutoRaise. Motofix’s apprenticeship event, aimed to inspire 13-18 year olds with an educational insight into the industry, welcomed 82 young attendees on the evening.
In association with AutoRaise, a vehicle repair charity set up to address the chronic skills shortage in the industry, Motofix was supported by various suppliers including DeVilbiss, Morelli, Powertec, Stanners, PPG, LKQ, Audatex, U-POL, Mirka, Pro-Align, Elevation, Radical Equipment and RM. With these suppliers present, the young attendees were able to gain a practical insight into the industry through activities such as learning how computer imaging can help to rebuild a vehicle virtually, painting demonstrations and panel repairs.
Motofix was further backed at the event by insurance provider esure. S&B and Bridgwater Colleges had representatives present to give attendees information and advice on which training courses may be best for them. An exciting addition to the event was the opportunity for attendees to have a hands-on experience with a Lamborghini Huracán and a 1957 Ford Mercury Monterey Convertible, also known as the Sheila’s Wheels vehicle from the recent esure advertising campaign – which were both on site on the evening.
The Motofix Group’s Managing Director, Richard Tutt comments “I am delighted that so many young people attended our apprenticeship event, and I hope that we have opened many eyes to the automotive industry. This event was a great success and we have already attracted 6 applications for apprentices – with further applications still coming in. This is great considering that they may not have thought about vehicle repairs as a career path previously. As a company, we are invested in the future of young technicians, so we are proud to host events such as this.”
